I need to do a project involving environmental graphics and this book is a great introduction into the phases for creating such work as well as laying out technical and conceptual considerations. Very valuable, especially because at best, you can only find courses for this sort of practice instead of a fully developed curriculum at a university. Or on the job as the case may be.

As a full-time design educator for the past ten years and with previous experience as an environmental graphic designer since the late ’80s, I was so excited when this book came out to finally have such a well-organized and thorough resource for students. Combining professional experience as a highly regarded practitioner with obvious strong teaching experience, the author has produced an excellent course book with well thought out content and very clear presentation. A must have book for the serious student as well as design professional.

I found this book very useful and full of background information on how to develop a sign program. I have been working as designer in the sign industry for over 15 years and found this book helpful to rethink some of my methods of programming a project. As a senior level designer, our clients at Signet Imagecrafters require a wide range of skills and knowledge of many signage and architectural materials, construction and styles. This book gives an all most step by step through the phases of an actual project completed by the author.
