Macro photography is the art of making little things big. Allowing you to magnify subjects and see detail not seen to the human eye. They are basically three Elements that you can use to create Artistic Macro Photography. They are Lighting, Focus and Composition. By understanding light, and with creative compositions, you are only limited by your imagination, vision and willingness to experiment. Here are a few tips to help you create Artistic Macro Photographs.

Lighting

Natural Light
Early Morning (blue - greenish hues)
Overcast Skys (bakanced and nuetral hues)
Late Afternoon (orange-red hues)

The lighting can be controlled in several ways

1) Shutter Speed
Selecting a fast enough shutter speed allows you to freeze the subject and capture a sharp  photograph.

2) ISO
Adjust the ISO  depending on lighting conditions and camera settings.

3) F-stop
Change your F-stop to control the background and DOF.

Proper Angle

Proper angles are essential in getting artisitic macro photos. Standing above the subject and shooting downwards usually produces the worst photos. Getting to the subject's eye level gives the best result. The angles you can take are limitless. Experiment.

Composition

What do you want include in the shot. What do you want to exclude. Do you want a vertical or horizontal shot. Compose your shot to get a creative images.  Choose the best angle. Experiment with comon photography rules like rules of thirds.

Focus

Focus on an interesting area, preferably the eyes. You can use your aperture creatively to controll the background DOF. Use the shutter speed and/or flash to get a sharp photo.
