SLAM 101.1 FM - Bangin The Hits

Introducing a brand new radio station in Barbados called SLAM 101.1 fm, which brings something new to the airwaves on the island. SLAM 101.1 fm – Banging the Hits does exactly what its slogan suggest, just keep playing the hits and popular songs.

SLAM’s format is completely different to the other radio stations in Barbados, where it rotates between music genres at specific intervals. So you might just happen to be listening to some nice Reggae for a while and then switches into Rap or Soca. Most of the big international stations use this format and it is good to see a local station adopting the same procedure. The rotation of the genres is good because you can’t guess what is going to play next.

SLAM 101 fm offers a lineup of professional and top quality personalities to keep you locked on throughout the day. The station uses a DJ and Announcer setup, where one person does the mixing and sound selecting while the other announces or talks. The SLAM Personalities include Alex Jordan, Lady NV, Gina, DMZ, King Bubba, Scratch Master, Verseewild, Keon, MixMaster Donne, Chilly, Simply Smooth, Salt and Andrew Franklin. Be sure to check out their photos and bios on the SLAM 101.1 fm Website.

The SLAM personalities are assigned fixed schedules every week. The schedule keeps the same throughout the week, except for Fridays, dubbed as Sound System Fridays where the DJ’s get to do their own thing. Saturday is known as SLAM On A Saturday and Sunday is just…….Sunday. You can see the entire station schedule here.
